Alkaline Ionized Water - Cancer Can't Live in Alkaline PH-Level

Alkaline ionized water the best water to cure many diseases and to avoid cancer. As mentioned in the Cancer Regime to keep the Ph-level alkaline by drinking alkaline ionized water is the best you can do for your health. In a alkaline cell environment cancer cells for example can't live or grow. The immune system will boost up and is able to fight viruses, infections, bacteria and parasites better and stronger. When we realize the fact that every person develops hundreds or thousands of cancer cells every day it is easy to understand that the Ph level is one of the most important measures.

The body fluids are highly toxic and this is the best fertile ground for cancer and many other diseases. The table below shows some of the common soft drinks pH and the pH of Battery acid and Alkalized Ionized Water.

Balancing the pH Testing the pH Level Alkaline foods for pH balance Claude Bernard: Meridian Energy / pH Balancing the pH

The term pH stands for "potential" of "Hydrogen". It is the amount of hydrogen ions in a particular solution. The more ions, the more acidic the solution. The fewer ions the more alkaline (base) the solution. pH is measured on a scale of 0 to 14 with seven (7) being neutral. The lower the pH number the more acidic it is and the higher the number the more alkaline. For example, a pH-level of 3 is more acidic than a pH-level of 5 and a pH-level of 9 is more alkaline than a pH-level of 6. Drinking alkaline ionized water daily will help to balance and increase the ph-value.

As humans, a normal pH-level of all tissues and fluids of the body (except the stomach) is slightly alkaline. The most critical pH is in the blood. All other organs and fluids will fluctuate in their range in order to keep the blood at a strict pH between 7.35 and 7.45 (slightly alkaline). This process is called homeostasis. The body makes constant adjustments in tissue and fluid pH to maintain this very narrow pH range in the blood.

Diet is probably the most important change. Avoid the over consumption of meat, alcohol, soft drinks, caffeine, coffee, most nuts, eggs, vinegar, sauerkraut, ascorbic acid, cheese, white sugar and medical drugs. Add more ripe fruits, vegetables, bean sprouts, water, milk, onions, figs, carrots, beets, and miso to your diet.

Testing the pH Level

Testing saliva is the most effective way to gauge the body's pH. To test saliva: Wait 2 hours after eating. Spit into a spoon. Dip the strip. Read immediately. Use the color chart from the correct indication. An optimal reading is 7.5. This indicates a slightly alkaline body.

To test urine: Test a urine sample first thing in the morning. Fill a small cup with urine, and dip a strip into the cup. Read immediately. Results: 7.0 is neutral. A reading of 6.5 is slightly acidic. A reading below 6.5 is very acidic. Note: A reading of 8.0 or above, while common, indicates a body that is too alkaline. Urine is slightly more acidic than saliva. [from pH strip producer: Phion, Inc.]

About Balancing the pH

People with painful deposits anywhere in their feet may have a morning urine pH of 4.5! At 4.5 it may be safe to guess that a lot has precipitated again in the night. During the day, your body's pH may swings back and forth. The urine gets quite alkaline right after a meal; this is called the alkaline tide. Three meals a day would bring you three alkaline tides. During these periods, lasting about an hour, you have an opportunity to dissolve some of your foot deposits. But if you allow your pH to drop too low in the night you put the deposits back again. The net effect decides whether your deposits grow or shrink.

Items traditionally used to help nutritionally support the normal pH level of the body. The use of these items is a traditional use that is not intended to be prescribed for, to treat or claim to cure any disease, including diseases related to high or low pH levels. To alkalinize yourself at bedtime, choose one of these options:

Take calcium (pure calcium carbonate or coral calcium) equaling 750 mg plus 300 mg of magnesium oxide. The magnesium helps the calcium dissolve and stay in solution. Taking more calcium at one time is not advised because it cannot be dissolved and absorbed anyway and might constipate you. For the elderly only one calcium tablet is advised. Take calcium tablets with vitamin C or lemon water to help dissolve (1⁄4 tsp. vitamin C powder; adding honey is fine). One cup of sterilized milk or buttermilk, drunk hot or cold, plus 1 magnesium oxide tablet, 300 mg. (adding cinnamon is fine). If these two remedies work for you, your morning urinary pH will come up to 6.0 but if for some reason they don't, you may need to take more drastic measures. Take the supplements and milk earlier in the day and reserve bedtime for: Get Balanced Bicarb Antacid (made from two parts baking soda and one part potassium bicarbonate). This potion may also be useful in occasional allergic reactions. Take 1 level tsp. in water at bedtime. If your pH reaches 6 in the morning continue each night at this dose. If it does not, take 1 1⁄2 tsp. Keep watching your pH, since it will gradually normalize and you will require less and less.

This is a short list of alkaline foods for pH balance:

Lemons/ Watermelon - pH 9.0 Bell pepper, kelps, mango, melons, parsley, papaya, seaweeds - pH 8.5 Apples, apricots, grapes, fruit juice, avocados, bananas, vegetable juice, peas - pH 8.0 Mushrooms, onions, almond, egg yolks, tofu, soy milk, vinegar, tomato, cucumber, coconut, brown rice - pH 7.5

These are a few common things that leave an acid ash in the bloodstream:

Most tab water - pH 7.0 Distilled water - pH 6.5 Purified water, fruit juice with sugar, cigarette, tobacco, wine - pH 6.0 White rice, beef, white flour, sugar, yogurt (sweetened) - pH 5.5

Acid pH:

- Reverse Osmosis Water, coffee, white bread - pH 4.0 - Cola, soft drinks, beer, hard spirits - pH 3.0 - Car battery acid - pH 1.0

Acid producing activities and emotions:

Overwork, anger, fear, jealousy, stress physical, stress emotional, Alkalize your body with alkaline diets and alkaline water

Stick to alkaline diets while minimizing intake of acid-forming foods Eat more greens and reds Drink at least 1.5l alkaline water every day Aerobic activities, yoga, tai chi, walking, swimming, rebounding and a positive mind are alkaline inducing.

Keep the body in optimal healthy state:

1) The acid-alkaline balance, or pH balance or Yin-Yang balance in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, of the body is critical to optimal health. It is said that Taoists, Qigong masters and Yogis all live a balanced, harmonized and alkaline life. Acidified body, imbalance, and physical weakness caused by poor diet and soft drinks, stress and toxic environment are very common among most Americans.

Microstructure, electron-rich, reducing alkaline water is the smallest antioxidant in molecular size, thus drinking alkaline water is the simplest and most effective way to neutralize free radicals, acidic waste and carcinogen and flux out the accumulated toxins which are all electron-loving and provide best hydration to each cell in the body.

Positive effects of being alkaline and hydrated:

2) Blood is one of the fluid systems that are constantly trying to maintain a pH of 7.4 (slightly alkaline). Being slightly alkaline means the blood cells and body tissues are highly oxygenated, and in optimal state to neutralize and detoxify the metabolic waste and toxins and you will be in a state of:

Vibrant healthy body Enhanced immunity High energy level Sharp mind and brain performance Shining looking healthy skin Positive emotional state

The pH balance is one of the most important measures to avoid disease at first and build up a strong functioning immune system. Cancer patients for example are always toxic (without exemption!) and most of the time eating the wrong food and having emotional stress or other stress related issues.

<< Claude Bernard: "le microbe n'est rien, le terrain c'est tout". Terrain refers to the environment, the body fluids, humors. These make up 80% of the body and need to have a pH value of 7,2-7,6 so that the protits take on the form of life-supporting bacteria. Due to interruptions in Meridian Energy flow pH values can be different in parts of the body. When the pH value changes the protits change into bacteria that can live in this low-pH, acicity environment.

Environment has 2 causes, Metabolism and Energy, both are interchangeable as 1st and 2nd cause. Protits are indestructible, they change their life forms = Pleomorphism. Energy is indestructible = change of flow in meridians.

For example, cholera bacteria requires pH 6 (assumed figure for demonstration purpose).

Cholera bacteria enters body which has 7.2 Protit will now change to a form that can live in 7.2, hence no outbreak of cholera. If body is at 6 cholera bacteria will florish, other bacteria in the body now also change to cholera bacteria. That's the reason why some people get it and some don't. To explain the correlation between Metabolism and Meridian Energy which are responsible for the Terrain is a 100+ hour lecture.....

Nothing is a secret. 'Merck et al test' every new antibiotic against its pleomorhic effect, they know into what kind of bacteria the cholera will change (another harmful one as it lives in the same pH 6 environment). They know the only cure is to change the Terrain to pH 7.2, but this can only be done by metabolism which requires good food and an undisturbed flow of energy. >>

Pulsating Energy Resoance Therapy ( PERTH ):

Energy buildup and meridian (organ) balancing (PERTH) Complete body detoxification - naturally and soft pH normalization Treatment & Prevention of over 200 dis-ease conditions Increased cell metabolism Blood pressure normalization

Using Perth-therapy, a principal base on alternating electromagnetic fields, these regulation processes can be stimulated bio-energetically. Stimulation takes place by means of biological resonance effects. A prerequisite, however, is that this artificially generated electromagnetic field exactly reproduces undisturbed nature of the correct extent.

In addition to the correct frequency, magnetic field strength and pulse shape are decisive quality features for the therapeutically efficiency of a magnetic field therapy unit. The organism only "understands" signals whose magnetic field strength is within the range of the physiological threshold-in the so-called "ADEY window" or "Biological-window". The alternating voltages and currents induced by the Perth therefore exactly correspond to those which a healthy body produces itself.

The Girl Next Door

When you think about the girl next door, usually it brings pleasant thoughts. She is a lady we have seen around, exchanged greetings and smiles - walked away feeling good. The part about feeling good has a lot to do with the calm atmosphere and the casual meeting. There was no crowd, no expectations of trying to be picked up, and you were not concerned about being rejected. Instead, it was you and a lady exchanging some small talk with no pressure or competition. Over time as you get to know each other the conversation may get a little more personal and you may decide to get together for dinner or drinks. It seems to come natural.

In a club, the atmosphere is completely different. There is competition and much more intensity in the air. The women don't know who you are and if they seen you around, they can only judge you by your actions - which may be effected by alcohol. When you do walk up to one of these ladies in a club, right away you are inviting her to go out, have a drink, etc., without her really knowing who you are. No wonder this type of atmosphere is ripe with rejection. Granted a lady may get to know you in a club over time, but there always seems to be another guy around the corner trying to take your place. Probably this competition is the reason for the hurried invite for a personal connection. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I bet, must guys have had more then their share of rejections in a club and really don't care for the feeling.

Meeting a girl online is similar to the girl next door concept. She may not be next door, but the atmosphere of little pressure, casual conversation and getting to know each other by online exchange (email, online chatting, etc.), make it a more pleasant feeling. In time, this exchange may blossom into more then friendship. If sparks connect, you will find yourself in love with the girl next door though she may be miles even oceans away.

A lady in a bar who doesn't know who you are, may say no for that reason alone. She may get to know you in time, but more then likely you have asked her out before she got the chance to know who you are. After a guy has been rejected, more then likely he won't return to the scene of the accident. You may tell yourself you will let the lady get to know you before making any advances, which is not a bad idea, but by the time she gets to know you, three other guys have asked her out. The girl next door concept in a bar could work, but the competition and the odds are stacked against you.

With the girl next door concept on the internet, you get to know each other before asking intimate questions. And when the time comes to invite the lady into a romantic encounter, she knows who you are and rejection is less likely. Granted, there are jerks on the net whose first email may say "baby, I want to make love to you all night," but that line seems out of place for a first email. Yet that same line may not seem so out of place the first time you meet a lady in a club. See the difference? I doubt if you would say "baby, I want to make love to you all night" the first time you meet your new lady neighbor. Yet in a club, after a few drinks, you will say just that and it is almost expected.

You can see why the girl next door concept works well with online dating. Ladies get to know the guys, rejection is less, and finding love is more likely. I can't imagine a better way to get to know the girl next door then from the comfort of your home and computer. The girl next door is as close as your fingers on the keyboard - you just got to go out and find her. With so many online dating services, finding the girl next door should be as easy as ringing her door bell.

How to Make Your Own Refrigerator Magnets

There are several types of refrigerator magnets that you can make with a little effort and the right materials. Below are some ideas for making magnets for gifts or just for fun.

1. First you need to gather the needed ingredients. The easiest magnets to make are flat magnets that you print out on your printer. These magnets are great for personalized favors and gifts. You will need special magnet sheets that are designed to be printed on, which should be available at most office supply stores as well as online.

2. If you are artistic, then you can draw your own images and scan them into your computer. Or you can draw them using a paint program. If not, you can do a search for free clip art and images, which should turn up plenty of images that you can use. These images can be imported into a word processor.

3. Next, you can insert the desired text. To make sure the text is readable, insert a box with solid background into the picture. This is where you will insert your personalized text.

4. Finally, print out your magnets on your color printer. If you don't have a color printer, then you local copy shop should be able to print these out for you for a reasonable fee.

5. You can also make three-dimensional magnets by using plaster of paris and cookie or soap molds. Fill the molds with the wet plaster and insert a circular magnet into the wet plaster. Cookie cutters can also be used instead of molds.

6. Once the plaster dries, the magnets can now be painted. Other types of decorations can be used as well, like glitter. Once the paint dries, you will have a lovely keepsake item or gift that will last for years.

In summary, with a few cheap ingredients and a little time, anyone can make their own refrigerator magnets. Enjoy!

Arraial D'Ajuda Attractions And Property

Arraial d'Ajuda is part of 'The Discovery Coast' and a short ferry ride across the river from Porto Seguro, Arraial d'Ajuda forms part of the municipality of Porto Seguro, which has the nearest commercial airport. Arraial d'Ajuda is very much like an upmarket European tourist resort, without the associated expense. Fashionable, modern, vibrant and unspoiled.

Arraial d'Ajuda is a historical town situated on a plateau above the coast and is aimed at the discerning tourist, rather than the mass market approach of Porto Seguro. A major tourist destination in its own right, the town is much more charming than Porto Seguro.

History And Attractions

Arraial's earliest recorded history dates back to the 16th century and the discovery and conquest of Brazil. There are processions and festivals here the year round.

This city is famous for it's religious parties, some of the most traditional are St. Sebastian (20 January) and St. Cosme and St. Damian (September 27). The largest celebration is on 15th August, for St. Nossa Senhora d'Ajuda it attracts thousands, tourists and locals alike.

The nearby National Park of Monte Pascoal and Indian reservation and the white beaches and lagoons annually attract international tourists.

A peaceful tourist village with indisputable appeal, it's narrow paved roads and dusty lanes wind beneath large, shady trees, with lovely pousadas and open air restaurants hidden among the greenery. Solid, brightly painted façades surround its plazas, and the air remains tinged with the scent of tropical vegetation.

In the evenings the place to visit is "Broduei" (pronounced "Broadway"). Here you can find bars and restaurants with all kinds of food (from Acarajé to Sushi to Mexican) and live music. You can also find locals offering their handicrafts as souvenirs. A second popular area is the Estrada do Mucugê, a bustling artery lined with boutiques, bars, and restaurants that magically spring to life come sundown.

The Beaches And Activities

There are many beaches here but the most popular are Araçaí, Apaga Fogo, Canoas, Mucugê, Tororão e Pitinga, some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere.

The Town offers numerous activities, if you are interested in scuba diving there are operators there, they'll take you to dive in Abrolhos (one of the most famous diving spot in Brazil). You can also take Lambada classes and follow trekking trails as well as learn regular surfing and kite surfing.

Property And Development

Arraial d'Ajuda today has a thriving international community, a number of chic shopping centres, an amazing array of restaurants and bars, more than you can count, a nightlife which will extend to 24hrs if you want it to and access to some of the best beaches in Brazil.

There is an enviable quality of life and no doubt it's desirability will increase exponentially over the coming years to become one of the most desirable spots in Bahia and indeed Brazil.

Property development space is limited and demand is high, so expect prices to rise further. This area also features Club Med as well as one of Brazil's most prestigious resorts in TerraVista.

VA Loans

VA loans, or Veterans administration loans, are an integral part of the US social financing system. As the term denotes, it primarily caters to war veterans or their surviving spouses (those who have not re-married), to help them be secure in their old age by assisting them get a loan for home financing with no down payment.

The origin of this benefit dates back to 1944, when a law was passed authorizing the US Department of Veteran Affairs to guarantee and insure loans for war veterans or their widowed spouses to live a life of dignity. These loans are disbursed by lenders who are authorized by government for the same purpose. What started as a social gesture has transformed itself major benefit for those who have spent their prime years fighting for the nation across different borders. Recently, in 1978, an amendment to the act ensured that this opportunity was extended to millions of American veterans whether they served in a war or not.

These loans work more or less on the same rules as a normal mortgage loan. The person desirous of such a loan has to find a suitable lender, who shall finance the home. It is available to those who can secure the necessary clearance and guarantee approval from Veterans Administration department. There are no provisions for disbursement of direct loans from the VA. The residences are normally in smaller towns or areas which are not so expensive, as there is a limit to how much the VA will guarantee. The maximum loan amount is subject to review from time to time, depending on the cost of living in a given area. Of course, this has spawned a great deal of enthusiasm among lending institutions, as such loans are safe from defaulting, since these are backed by the federal government itself. A lot of institutions have come up with some wonderful schemes to draw veterans towards them to apply for such loans.

There are a few conditions that need to be met for veterans to be eligible for VA loans. There is an online program called ACE - Automated Certificate of Eligibility, which has to be filled as a pre-requisite. In case data is not available for this, there is also the VA form 22-1880, which is a request for certificate for eligibility. This form has to be filled and sent to the regional Eligibility Center, enclosing a copy of DD214 discharge paperwork, and any other document, if available. In case the discharge has not been honorable, the department shall conduct an inquiry into the circumstances of such discharge and decide accordingly, on the eligibility.

It is only natural that the government takes care of its soldiers and former soldiers, those who have put in the prime part of their lives for the service of the nation.

Auditors in the Healthcare World

The job of an auditor is to assess a company or an individual who is a part of a company. An auditor will step in and perform an audit if there is a question about the legitimacy of information being given or documented by a company or individual. Auditors also concern themselves with the internal workings of the service that is being provided. Chances are if you provide a service, you run the risk of being audited. Auditors exempt no doctor from audits and Physicians and Chiropractors alike are all at risk. There are varying types of auditors and the audits that they perform. Auditors can come from either inside a company or from outside a company.

Therefore, the two types of auditors that exist are called Internal Auditors and External Auditors. Quality audits are done to determine whether or not certain ideas and actions are being successfully applied by a company or individual selling a service. Quality audits are also performed to ensure that the goals set by companies or a service provider are met. Another type of audit is an integrated audit, which deals with how well internal control is reporting their financial status.

There is no doubt that companies or service providers, including those in the healthcare world, have to be on top of their game in order to keep auditors at bay. Healthcare providers specifically, need their documents need to be updated and correctly written. Every patients' file must be updated and correctly documented as well. In 2006, fraud and false claims were in the billions for Chiropractors alone, as reported by The Justice Department. When insurance fraud is detected by an auditor, the ramifications are serious. A Chiropractor can loose his or her license and there is a possibility of jail time. These are just a few consequences for Chiropractors if fraud is detected by an auditor. Audits can also drain a practice out of an incredible amount of money, demanding that a Chiropractor actually return revenues. When revenues suffer than a Chiropractor's practice suffers. Recovering from lost revenues is a difficult thing to do, especially if you want a thriving practice. Auditors can shut down a practice and completely ruin the career of a Chiropractor.

The good news is that there are ways for medical practices to fight back and billing services will help. Billing services will work with a Chiropractor to ensure that they have impeccable SOAP notes and that all patients have updated charts and are on schedule. These seem to be the best ways for a Chiropractic to steer clear from audit risk. Billing services use software to make it less likely that a Chiropractor will be audited. Billing services work to tear down the red flags that may signal auditors to come after a Chiropractor's practice. Audit risk is serious and is something that all companies and individuals should shield themselves from. Auditors show no mercy if a company or individual is not complying with the rules they have set. Billing services will work to ensure that a Chiropractor has a chance to beat these auditors from taking away from their practice.

Is Your Business Prepared For a Disaster?

Is your business prepared for a disaster? A couple of years ago the world watched as New Orleans almost became the 'Lost City of Atlantis'. Hurricane Katrina almost completely destroyed this historic city on the Mississippi. Homes, lives, and businesses were lost in the matter of just a few days. Many of those businesses had enough warning to enable them to move vital information to secure spots. Unfortunately, many more chose to 'stick it out' in hopes that the storm and surge would pass by them.

Most people who live along coastal waterways know there is the possibility that they will be subject to some kind of natural disaster. Businesses put plans in effect that will help them relocate in case of emergencies. But what would you do if your small community seems impervious to natural disasters? We live in a relatively safe place here in Idaho. We do not get hurricanes; we rarely have tornados, and when we do the most damage it usually does is tip over somebody's tractor or throw their swing set into a tree; we can have some harsh winters but not anything that can't be dealt with. But, recently an event happened that should make every small town that sits in the mountains take notice.

A fire started in the mountains near Sun Valley, Idaho. It quickly grew to many thousands of acres, threatening the towns of Ketchum, Sun Valley, and Elkhorn. They, or at least parts of them, were evacuated for several days. Did these towns have a week or two notice, like they did with hurricane Katrina? No, they had only a few hours notice for the citizens of those communities to grab whatever belongings they could carry and evacuate. Fortunately the fire was contained and few reports of lost property were reported.

This brings up several questions:

What would you do in your business if this happened in your community? How would you safeguard your property? How would you transfer vital documents and supplies to safe areas? What would happen to your information technology infrastructures? How would you conduct business if you were forced to leave your place of business for an extended time?

These same questions were repeatedly asked on September 11, 2001, the day the World Trade Center towers were attacked and destroyed, by many businesses throughout this land and beyond.

These same questions need to be asked today?

Disaster preparedness is not just about stocking food in case you can't get to the store. For businesses it is about preparing to function in extreme circumstances, preparing to secure key components of their business from possible damage, and preparing to not only survive, but prosper when all around them seems to be in chaos.

How have you prepared your business in the event of an emergency?

Budgeting Successfully For Students in Four Easy Steps

Creating and managing a budget successfully is not as hard as make out to be. Although, the initial commitment to live according to the budget you create is the hardest part, like most new things. But, once you get into a regular routine, it become a habit you are on your way to being a wiser spender and saving more.

What is a budget?

A written plan how your are spending your money. Some people look at as a savings plan, cutting spending to necessities and investing the rest. You will spend money on either things you need (fixed expenses) and wants (variable expenses); a budget just helps you to spend your money more wisely.

Managing a budget

1) Prepare a budget worksheet. You can create one yourself on paper or spreadsheet. There are also pre-made forms available. To create your own: down the left side list all of your sources of income and expenses. Across the top, you can break it down into weeks, or months. As you record the dollar amount for each, subtract expenses from income and that becomes the total at the bottom.

2) Tracking your incidental expenses in a small notebook. This is where the bulk of your money is going, but what about all those extras? The dollar here, fifty cents there add up quick over a month. This is an extremely important step if you are serious about stretching your money. Jot down all the money spent each day on meals, snacks, gas, movies, impulse purchases, beer, pizza, or entertainment. After you have done so for a few days, you will start to notice how small things add up to large amounts. This is where you can start cutting back putting the money into savings.

3) Learn everything you can about budgeting, spending, and saving/investing your money. The library is a great place to start as it offers many free resources. Talk to anyone who is already doing this, friends, parents, or teachers, to see what they have learned about using money more wisely, budgeting and saving. Maybe you can even form a small group at school to share what each student has learned.

4) Living a frugal lifestyle is not something to be shunned. Frugality is not a bad thing, it is the wisest thing you can do for yourself. Shop smart, spend less, invest more.

Some frugal living suggestions:

Define your financial goals. List wants verses needs. Concentrate on spending money only on needs and wants only if you have saved up for them. Don't gamble, drink, smoke, or do drugs. They are not only bad for you, addictive, and cost money it is how fortunes are lost. Always pay yourself first by keeping a savings account. Look around for high interest accounts, like money market accounts, and keep the majority of your money there. Eliminate waste, using everything to its fullest potential. Waste not, Want not. Reuse everything, study materials such as pencils, pens, and even paper. Even a backpack can be sewn at least once before it needs replacing. Then recycle. Don't spend money around the plans you make instead make plans around the money you have to spend after all of your responsibilities are met. Create a fun account and once its spent, that's end of the fun until you save some more. Don't be tempted by friends' to spend more than you have. They may just start wondering where all your money is coming from and that gives you the chance to educate them on living more frugal. Make the most of a school meal plan, or any event where there is free food. Use tuition money wisely. Always take the maximum number of credits allowed and don't burn you out. Get an on-campus job if at all possible. If not, find a job as close as possible to avoide travel expense. Make things yourself instead of buying them whenever possible or find another student you can barter for what you need. Shop smart when buying groceries and household items. Use coupons, look for sales. Stock up on discounted non-perishable items. Milk, butter, and cheese can be frozen. Don't buy soft drinks, they are too expensive and not goof for your health. Keep one bottle and refill it with water, bottle water is too expensive. Never spend money on snack machines. When buying clothes shop smart and do not pay retail prices. Go to thrift stores, consignment shops, yard sales, clearance racks, and buy during off seasons. Don't buy any item that requires dry cleaning. Consider consigning your own clothes to earn some money. Email or write a letter instead of calling home long distance, even if the parents are paying for it.

Just a few ideas you can use to start living more frugal, and to manage your budget successfully. Learning how to manage a budget in college not only helps you now, but all through your life. The decisions you make now will effect you throughout life. Use this time and your money more wisely.

Attract Publishers With Your Talent

The slushpiles in publishers' offices are higher than ever before, worse than that, they are getting taller by the day, and if you hope to avoid them, you have to grab the publisher's or agent's attention, with the sheer force of your talent. Here are some ways to help you improve your writing, which in turn might intrigue them. They won't guarantee you getting published, nothing will, but they might help.

Know you subject.

With the advent of the Internet you can obtain detailed technical information on any subject you can think of. There is no excuse for inaccurate or wishy-washy descriptive writing. If the publisher guesses you don't really know what you are talking about, guess where your work will end up. I recently read an otherwise excellent book that went on to describe the cicadas chirping in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. I don't think so. Cicadas in England? Global warming may be, but it hasn't happened yet. Or another book published by a well-known thriller writer, later turned into a successful movie, describing scenes of cruising through the locks on the Norfolk Broads. The only problem with that, there are no locks on the Norfolk Broads. I doubt if he would have got away with that today.

Spend sufficient time and effort settling on your characters' names.

Ideally they shouldn't be too ordinary, or too extreme. They should be interesting and memorable, and not already famous in another work. Remember, you're going to be stuck with these characters all through the book, all through your life come to that, at least with some of them, and you don't want those names grating by the time you reach page twenty.

Avoid using too many adjectives.

Especially those ending in "ly". They do make sentences wordy, and often deaden and weaken meaning. If you have to use them, try and do so at the beginning or the end of the sentence. "Obviously", seems to be the most overused word on the planet. Some people begin every sentence with "obviously". Some writers do too. Why? One editor I know strikes out every adjective and adverb ending in "ly", a strict regime you may think, but it usually works. I have just picked up the latest Lee Child blockbuster and at a quick glance I am hard pressed to find any such words. Lee Child is known for his tight writing and fast paced plots. Perhaps this is one reason why.

Try this as an exercise.

Write a 250 word descriptive piece, without using a single adjective. You won't find it easy, but you will notice how tight the writing sounds afterwards. Once you've finished, reward yourself by allowing the addition of one adjective only. When you have just the one to play with, you value it more highly, are more selective, and guess what? It reads better.

Decide on whose story it is, and thus who your central character is, and stick with it.

You will confuse the reader if your central character changes from one moment to another. Lee Child's writing is an excellent example of a strong central character. Almost all of Mister Child's work is centred on the very strong (in more ways than one!) main character of Jack Reacher. If you haven't read a Lee Child book, then do so, and you will see what I mean. Lee Child has built a hugely successful career on the back of his portrayal of the adventures of Jack Reacher, and clear lessons can be learned from his creation of this one outstanding character.
